Apologies for the long post, but I thought it was a funny story...
So my dad is huge fan of martial arts, ever since he was a kid. He always had random knowledge about famous martial artists, actors, actresses etc. Whenever I use to watch kung-fu flicks with my dad, he'd point out what martial arts schools the actors went to, who they trained under, other actors that were their classmates, shit like that.
Today, he told me about this legendary fight between 2 Chinese kung-fu masters that took place in the 50's. It was an actual fight that took place between these 2 masters, which him and my uncle would gush about when they were kids. My dad had never actually seen the fight - it was just something he heard about, like a legendary tale.
Being that we're in the age of the internet, I told him to try and youtube it. BAM! The video pops up. The video description matches everything my father remembered from his childhood. You should've seen his face and reaction. It was like he went back to his childhood. My dad couldn't have been any happier.
As we watched the fight, we expected this epic battle between 2 masters of Kung Fu. One master displaying the art of Tai Chi. The other displaying the art of Crane style. My dad kept pointing at the screen, telling me, "watch this! watch this!" As we watched the video, something seemed odd. No one was doing any kung fu. In fact, it was like watching 2 middle school kids fight over some shit talking. My dad couldn't believe it. Imagine hearing about this legendary fight for years, then finally getting the chance to see it, only to find out it was nothing more than a shitty slap boxing match. No one even threw a kick. No one even landed a clean shot. I believe my dad's exact words were, "what the hell? there's no kung fu in this shit?!"
Don't worry dad. You still rule...
